The guy on the right is Maechen - a historian and story teller in a land called Spira. He features in the games Final Fantasy X and X-2. I decided to put him here, on the gateway to my fanfic, because I quite identify with his character. No, I'm not old and gray (though I sometimes feel it), nor am I a man (though, in today's world I sometime think it would be easier if I were).

I think of myself as Maechen because I'm more of a historian and researcher than a "writer." My training and background was in literary criticism before I moved to study of religions. I left the academic world to make money and became a computer geek. It's taken me a long and winding 15 years to get around to writing - something the people who have known me longest all now tell me they thought I should have been doing all along.

If you asked me to tell you why I decided to write fan fiction, I don't know that I could give a solid reason. I guess I just do it because I like it. While my work is confined to a few select fandoms, I write just about everything. I do this on purpose. Each story I start has specific goals. Sometimes, it's just to finish the thing. Other times, it's to work in a specific narrator POV, tense, or genre. I do sonfic, parody, comedy, alternate universe, history, action/adventure, and homoerotica. I try to push my limits and the limits of my readers. As a result and each story has a warning area along with disclaimers. If you are too young to be reading the content or find it objectionable, don't blame me. I tried to fend you off.
