Barak is an original character created for Legendary Guardian and has no basis in cannon from Square Soft in Final Fantasy X. He appears in many chapters of LG and is a strong influence in Auron's life. Forty at the time of Auron's birth, Barak is his priest mentor at the temple. From the age of five, Auron meets with Barak on a daily basis to be indoctrinated in the philosophy of the Chruch of Yevon. Barak has other students, but seems to have a special interest in Auron. As Auron grows up, Barak becomes an increasingly important figure in his life and ultimately fills the shoes of both father and Grandfather as the years go by. In addition to his priestly role as Auron's sponsor and mentor, Barak also becomes involved with Shana - Auron's family housekeeper. The man falls in love with her and, over the years, their relationship deepens. Ultimately, Barak moves into Auron's home to be close to Shana - though the two are never married and the extent of their relationship is left somewhat in doubt. Being an intellectual, Barak is not trained in advanced fighting skills and has no designated weapons. He's described as, wise, bald, about 6 feet tall, and a vigorously active man. When writing Barak, I had the vision of the actor Patrick Stewart in mind. |
