Duras, Guardian to the Summoner Chinan, is an original character created for Legendary Guardian and has no basis in cannon from Square Soft in Final Fantasy X. He appears in only one chapter of LG but is part of an ongoing revelation/unfolding regarding a crucial situation in Auron's life.

Auron, when meeting Braska for the first time, is struck by a strange sensation and a need to know more about the priest that borders on the obsessive. This condition is known as The Call of Guardianship (also without basis in Square Cannon and completely created by myself for this group of fiction works). Since most who receive "The Call" experience it in the presence of any Summoner, Auron's lack of reaction when meeting The Summoner Chinan causes the young warrior no end of confusion and puts into question the idea that he might have "The Call" in the first place.

When Auron questions Chinan's status as a Summoner, Duras comes to the defense of his Summoner's honor. Though no physical description of Duras is given in LG, his actions speak loudly. Duras is a devoted, alert, and attentive Guardian. From the interaction between the pair, it is clear that he and Chinan are friends. I thought of them as having known each other since childhood - best buddies who went down different paths.

Duras was a Crusader before becoming a Guardian. Like his friend and Summoner, Chinan, he is twenty eight and from the island of Kilika. While it is certain that he does not make it to the Ebon Dome, it is open to question how far he and Chinan get before their Journey ends.
