Lord High Summoner Gandof is a creation of Square Soft for the game Final Fantasy X. While not a playable character, he is mentioned in passing several times during game play and statues of him are seen in every Yevon temple. His importance to the history of the world of Spira, and the development of the Church of Yevon, can not be underestimated.

As the second Summoner to defeat Sin - six hundred years after the Lady Yunalesca - Gandof completed the first pilgrimage to Zanarkand. His victory cemented the hold of the Church of Yevon and lifted the veil of controversy that surrounded Church teachings. Gandof's success was seen as confirmation that the Yevon religion's ban on machina was justified and began the persecution of the Al Bhed race in earnest. The Thunder Plains bear his name. He was 68.
