Rain (also called Neyh in the Al Bhed tounge) is a somewhat original character created for Legendary Guardian, Braska's Journey, and Bonds of love.

As Braska's wife, Rain's existence has canonical basis in FFX but I have never run across anything in any version of the game, or in my official literature from Square Soft, to indicate they ever gave this woman a name. After a long period of thought, I finally broke down and chose a moniker for the poor woman. It just seemed odd to continuously refer to her as "Braska's wife." I got away with it as long as I could but it finally just didn't make sense to keep doing it.

Though I don't have a screen capture of her appearance in the game, this previously nameless face shows itself in the Farplane when Yuna visit's there during her pilgrimage. She is petite with short sandy blond hair and swirled iris green eyes. Yuna and Rikku both mention her during game events and Rikku gives a bit of background if Tidus rides with her on a snowmobile to the Macalania temple. It seems that Braska was close with Cid, the Al Bhed leader, and ended up falling in love with his younger sister. When Cid objected to the relationship, the pair ran off together and it created a rift that was never healed. The young woman was on her way to visit her brother for the first time since running off with Braska when her ship was attacked by Sin. All the Al Bhed aboard the transport were killed.

It is implied that this turn of events sparked Braska's resolve to leave Yuna behind and undertake the Pilgrimage. This makes Rain a critical motivating factor in Braska's life and therefore also, indirectly, in Auron's. She and Braska had only one child, Yuna, and the date of her death is unclear in the game timeline. Yuna does seem to remember her mother and father being together so I chose to make Yuna five at the time of her death.
