The character Rin was created by Square Soft for the game Final Fantasy X. Square gives his age as 30 years old at game start.

Rin is a member of the Al Bhed race and operates a successful serries of travel stops along major roads on the Djose and Wilderia continents. Rin's stops offer both locations to rent a room and a place to buy and sell items. Weapons, potions, books and just about anything else you can imagine passes through the doors of a "Rin's Travel Agency." Rin uses the funds he raises from these travel stops to assist his people in their efforts to build a city in the harsh deserts on Bicknel Island.

In addition to his role as shop keeper, Rin is happy to teach you the Al Bhed language and challenges you to collect dictionaries from around Spira to this end. He also has a mysterious link to Sir Auron. Apparently, not long after Braska's fight with Sin, Rin found Auron badly wounded in the Calm Lands. He tended to the injured Guardian only to have Auron later dissapear. The game gives no real specifics on the incident and both men seem to hastily drop the subject leading to much speculation.

During the course of Legendary Guardian and Braska's Journey Rin makes several appearences. I make the assumption that he was on friendly terms with Braska and part of this larger relationship is expanded upon in a one-shot story called My Desert Rose. Since Rin is an Al Bhed, I do not give him magical abilities or "standard" fighting skills but, instead, grant him abilities similar to those of Rikku - a thief. I also assume that his weapon of choice would be a machina gun.
